All items in need of my services must be fresh from the laundry machine, by hand or dry cleaner! Even if you only wore your item(s) once since washing, it’s no longer sanitary for me to work on.

In cases when clients have disclosed their items are clean but I later discover they are not, you will be notified to pick them up and they must be washed or taken to the cleaners before returning them to have the project completed. This will affect the original ready date of your project, and you may incur a service fee for our inconvenience.

But hey, mistakes happen!! So it’s no big deal! Please pre-assess your clothing before coming in to save us both lots of time!

Is It Fresh Check List:

  1. Does it smell like fresh laundry?
  2. Are there stains, food bits, or dirt near the hems?
  3. Are there wrinkles from a recent wear- in the knees, elbows, underarms, and seat?
  4. Is the crotch nice and clean?

Why is it so important that clothing be freshly washed?

seriously at Becky’s Custom Sewing & Alterations and I can not produce my best work on items that are soiled, stained, oily from lotions or natural skin oils, or any of the other ways clothing can become unclean.

And it’s not just for me – clean clothing benefits you!

  • Garment repairs and alterations are visually and functionally more successful when performed on clean fibers. The end results look more natural and last longer.
  • Everyone will thank you for being respectful of others general health and safety.
  • They are ready to wear as soon as you pick them up!

Because I care about all the items that pass through my hands, I must also be considerate to keep soiled garments from transferring dirt or scents onto someone else’s clothing (white bridal gowns for example).

And last but not least, I must maintain my machines in tip-top order. Sewing soiled items causes damage to the internal elements of the machines.

Thank you for understanding! Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
